Our NEW Jr Freeride Competition Team is an 11-week program plus a 3 day holiday camp for advanced skiers and snowboarders that are ready to progress their training into competition preparation. The curriculum will include competition preparedness with an emphasis on Freeride skills and preparing athletes for success in IFSA competitions. Curriculum will include; off-piste skills, advanced tree skiing/riding, cliffs, chutes, steep and deep powder, controlling higher speeds on steeper terrain, line choice, avalanche and tree well safety. Athletes will learn about backcountry skiing/riding and safety, (in bounds of course). We do a couple of inbounds hikes and discuss the skills athletes would use out of bounds. Athlete will also have access to Flathead Avalanche Center workshops. Comp Team athletes will receive a jersey to keep and use at our in-house competition series events giving them the opportunity to practice competing in turn further developing their skills.
Athletes should plan to compete in most home mountain events alongside their team members. There will be no regular training on relevant event days as coaches will be with their groups at competitions. Dates and details are listed below.
IFSA & USASA regional coaching may be available through our travel team.
Includes: 11 weeks of on-snow team training, 6 weeks of Fall dryland training (outdoor), 2-3 Fall aerial training sessions (indoor) and 2 Winter aerial training sessions. Also included; 3-day Holiday Camp, NEW Competition Team Jersey and Saturday In-House Comp Series events.
Sundays: January 4 to March 15 - 9:30am - 3pm. Plus Holiday Camp Dec 28-30 included.
Purchase of this product will enroll you in our 2 payment plan. The second payment will be automatically collected on the 8th of November using the card from enrollment. If you need to update or change the credit card for the second payment, it will need to done directly in your estore account under 'payment plan'.
If we cannot collect the 2nd payment, your spot on the team will be released and we will put the funds from the initial installment into a stored value on your account. Funds will not be returned to you.
*Please note that the 3% Big Mountain Resort Area District tax goes into effect June 1, 2025 and will be applied to your second payment.
REFUNDS:
Program fees may be refunded up until November 15, 2025, exceptions are made for injury or serious illness. There are no partial refunds OR transfers of payments to group lessons or other programs for those that miss class due to; a temporary sickness, another hobby or event, or any other personal choice. Refunds must be applied for in writing. Due to difference in curriculum, age requirements, coaching and training schedules we are not able to offer a different training day as a make-up for missing a practice. Please do your best to make it to your scheduled practices, making it to half a day is better than missing a whole day.
Winter Weather Policy:
Freestyle Team will plan to hold our trainings in winter weather – that’s part of the learning process and an element of winter sports. We will take the lead of our operations department and cancel/delay programs to align with lift operations and mountain closures. While it will be our goal to reschedule, it is not always possible, and we encourage each family to do what is best for them and the needs of the participants on these days. There are no refunds or partial refunds for missed dates.
“Whitefish Freestyle Inc” is a non-profit support organization separate from the WMR Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Team. The Inc. is made up of current and past parents, coaches and supporters from the community. Through fundraising efforts, there is a fund available that pays for team activities, and subsidizes team travel expenses, coaches' education and athlete scholarships for Freestyle Team program fees.
